Oct. 6th, 2010 @ 01:06 pm Frequently Asked Question #101 (small spelling/code mistakes)
*rows around in total darkness*

Hello? Anybody out there?
After reading the last entry and its replies I'm not so sure, but since I was also sent this way after the last FAQ mistake I pointed out on the support board I'll post this one here.

If you check FAQ #101 you'll see that there is a leftover and broken i-tag at the end of the second paragraph, and a full stop missing in the very last line of the FAQ.

Nothing major.
Sep. 9th, 2009 @ 08:19 pm What to do with en_GB?
documents, _support, workload, papers
So, it's clear that the activity level on the en_GB isn't quite up to handling the FAQ changes we've been making lately, and Outdated Information Is Bad. It's been proposed () that something needs to be done with the en_GB FAQs at the very least, and possibly doing away with the translation entirely.

As I see it, there are a couple of options:

1. Take the plunge and just get rid of en_GB. It's kind of silly to have a translation delay, sometimes significantly, between speakers of the same language. I don't think the minor differences in spelling and usage really justify the misinformation that can linger in untranslated FAQs.

2. Try to talk to the development team to see if there's a technical solution they can provide, to allow en_GB FAQs to just show the en_LJ version, but keep the en_GB site text where it's already in place. New FAQs will do this automatically if nobody translates them in en_GB, but old FAQs won't.

3. Give translate privs to those with faqedit privs, so they can go and update the en_GB version at the same time. This is the least ideal solution, in my opinion.

What are your thoughts?

Just a small glitch.

There's a hanging </lj-raw sitting at the end of FAQ #62.

One day people will get sick of me posting for tiny tweaks in the FAQs...

Needs to be updated to reflect that notifications for Basic and Early Adopter accounts are always show in the message centre. Also, there is an extra set of "You can subscribe to a variety of events on the site:" bullet points which should be removed.

Me - Sawyer
FAQ #25 [http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=25&view=full&lang=en_GB] needs to have the Special Cases - Underscores section removed as this offer is no longer available.

Oddish - Cute
* Still calls it "Update Journal" page instead of "Post an Entry" page.
* GB version needs to be changed to reflect RTE can now be used in Safari/Opera (applies to last section of FAQ as well)

en_LJ reference: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=222&uselang=en_LJ&view=full

* Needs to change nomenclature: Change Journal Style => Select Journal Style, Work As User => Switch To, Switch => Go
* First paragraph should be changed to reflect the new location of the search box
* Link needed for Journal Display page

Oct. 22nd, 2008 @ 01:54 pm Missing text in talkpost.bml.opt.anonymous
(I hope this is the right place to report the following)

The top option says "(will be screened)" but it ought to say "Anonymous (will be screened)". Journals with site-scheme comments pages and screening turned off just have this option blank, which is even more confusing.
Oct. 11th, 2008 @ 08:33 am FAQ #80
Shinx, _support
FAQ #80: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=80&uselang=en_GB&view=full doesn't mention that users can receive notification of community invites, which is part of the en_LJ FAQ: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=80&uselang=en_LJ&view=full

Also, the list of statuses "(accepted, declined, pending)" should be updated to "(accepted, declined, outstanding)".
May. 22nd, 2008 @ 12:36 am FAQ Question #38
7rin adoption reunion chibi by maddmouse
FAQ Question #38 needs some work as it only says:

"Basic Account is an option available to accounts which were created before 12 March 2008. No account created after this date can be turned into a Basic Account."

It needs to be mentioned somewhere in there that:
(a) no personal journal can now be made into a basic account (well, unless I've missed something somewhere, but that was my reading of what was said way back when it was all sorted).
(b) community accounts can still be created as basic accounts (unless that's covered under Community Management, but I couldn't see it on a quick skim).
